Nearly 3 months have passed since my last post. Why did I let that happen? Although it has been three months since I have posted, I have still been involved in the blog world by reading my favorite blogs and saving pictures so I can post about them when I come around too it. This semester to say the least has been miserable for me. I found out that if I don't pass a certain class that my graduation will be postponed by another year. I have yet to take that final (will discuss that in a minute). I also have just had my dad on my heart alot this semester. We went to Arkansas to pick his things up and that was extremely hard. My heart is heavy over the intense feeling of missing him this holiday season. I long for my dad to be here with me and my sisters physically. It is so hard to believe that 7 months have passed by without him being on this earth. I see him every time I look in the mirror or every time I think about marriage, having children or watching my sisters grow up. The pain is never ending but slowly it becomes easier.

Other than that, I have done more crafting this semester than I have ever done in my crafting career. This October I hosted my own booth at the Highlands Jamboree and had a huge array of things that I sold (I will post pictures). Designs By Madison is officially the name of my business and it is growing rapidly. I have so much business this semester and holiday season and am so grateful.

Speaking of being grateful, my nephew Wyatt Lee Medrano will be seven months this December 20Th. He brings so much joy into my life. Although I am not "legally" his aunt yet, I feel like I have this special bond with him and every time I think about his day of birth it makes me cry...literally. He was born May 20Th, just a couple weeks after my dad passed away. With all the sorrow that was going on in my life surrounding loosing my father, watching this precious baby boy being born into the world brought me so much joy and took my mind off of all the pain. Every time I see him he makes me smile, and makes me so grateful for the happiness that he gave me in the hardest time of my life. As he grows, my mind is blown at how much I love that little boy and how I cant wait until he is bigger so I can tell him how much he made the saddest time in my life easier to bear by coming into this word.

A week's rundown.

August 14, 2011 - August 20, 2011

This week has sure been a doosey! This is officially my last week as a 20 year old. As I think about aging, it makes me nervous...well that's a post in itself (on my birthday). This past week we got an adorable baby puppy named Scooter, he happens to be one of the all time cutest wiener dog I have ever laid my eyes on in fact. He has a belly that just can't resist to drag on the ground lol. Here is a picture of this tiny thing.

Along with getting a new family member, it was also the week of our churches first annual Kidz Fun Fest, and boy was it a hit with our family. Makaela and Haleigh had a blast and not to mention I also had a wonderful time. We all brought guest's and Haleigh even won a $30 gift card to Walmart because of all the guest's that she brought! How awesome. Makaela was probably dressed up as the cutest clown that I have ever seen. She participated in the whole thing because she is a youth leader for the children's church. Here is a couple pictures of her in her totally awesome clown suit.

Man, this blog is really turning into an awesome picture show. I'm not done yet either! I also had a really awesome order for Meghan Thompson for a baby shower. It was firetruck themed for a little boy and it quite possible had the cutest cupcakes in the world, thanks to me. lol.

I have something really special that I want to post tomorrow or the next day. Our friend up in Arkansas made Makaela, Haleigh and me some teddy bears made out of our daddy's favorite t-shirts. They smell like him, and just flood us with memories and we can't get enough. I am so excited to show you guys because I have fell in love with these three bears. What a great thing to have! .......post about them coming soon (including some pictures).

Living life to the fullest!

Lately I have been so stressed out about finances and everything that surrounds school. I haven't even stopped to smell the roses and point out all the wonderful things that are developing in my life. When Daddy passed away it put my entire life on hold, I didn't even want to get up in the morning...much less go to school and act like a normal person. Slowly but surely I am starting to do more and think about the wonderful man that my Daddy was and will always be. The past week all I can think about is how my dad lived his life to the fullest! He never ever let a fun time or something fun pass him up, he always was having fun even in his last days. I want my life to be like that! The past few months I really gave up on craft's, cakes and also photography. Which is crazy to me because those are all the things that I absolutely love to do. My Daddy was the one who bought me my first camera and was always buying me photography things and being completely enthusiastic about my photography kicking off! I never want to quit because that is something that me and him loved talking about together. He was always cheering me on with everything that I do. So this past week I have started to do things that I love again! Here is a few snapshot's of what I have been doing this past week!

Here is a cute peace sign cake I made for Nick's cousin who was turning 11!

A lovely pink and black polka dot bow I made for an adorable baby girl!

And how could you not want a cutesy camo bow!

Last but not least, I took this couple's pictures at a park around Baytown. They did wonderful!

New Recipe alert!

Cake mix cookies with homemade butter cream filing :)

Ingredients for Cookies:
-cake mix of your choice
-veggie oil
-2 eggs

Ingredients for Buttercream Icing-Whitneys recipe:
-powdered sugar
-one stick of butter
-vanilla
-milk
-crisco

Directions:

Start by making the cake mix cookies, empty the cake mix into your mixing bowl, add 1/3 of a cup of veggie oil and 2 eggs. Blend until in the consistency of cookie dough. Spoon out little balls onto an UNGREASED baking sheet. Preheat oven for 350 and let cook for 11 minutes.

Then you are going to want to make the buttercream icing. I dont have exact measurments on the icing, BUT one stick of butter into mixing bowl, about 3 tablespoon fulls of crisco, roughly 2 teaspoons of vanilla...mix all together and slowly add the powdered sugar and milk. Get it to the consistancy of whatever you want.

After cookies have cooled for 10 minutes, take two cookies and drop a big spoonfull of icing in between them and MMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMM....it is good!!

A+ Creations' first cake!

On Friday night me and Whitney (future sis in law) did our first official A+ Creations (our new business' name!!) cake. It was for our friend Amalia G. and it was her 19th birthday. Since she is planning on going to Medical school and becoming a doctor, her sweet boyfriend (Eric R.) asked us to make this adorable cake for her. Whitney and me had SO much fun making this cake and we learned how GREAT we work together. I cannot wait until we start getting even more business. If you want a cake please email us at aplus.creations@yahoo.com

Jungle Time :)

(horrible pictures because I took them off of my cell phone)

A friend/future family member Maribel told me that her friend was having a baby...SO OF COURSE...I wanted to get involved in making some stuff :)

Her baby was going to be a little boy named Ayden and her baby shower theme was "Jungle" so I made her vanilla cupcakes with icing that looked like grass, then I popped a few lions and leaves in the top to make it look more jungle(y)? lolol Then I made her an embroidered diaper bag with a blanket and bib's to go with it! I sure hope she loved it!! :)
